The Payne Center’s “Body Rock” class is just one of the eighteen different types of group exercise classes offered at the Southern Miss Payne Center.
Body Rock instructor, Elizabeth Winton says, “Motivating people to stay active and enjoy exercising is my favorite part of my job.”
Winton has been teaching classes at the Payne Center since May 2014. Along with body rock, Winton also teaches a Senior Citizen “Stretch, Strength and Balance” class.
Winton started teaching classes at the Payne after another fitness instructor reached out to her.
“I was a little surprised that she thought of me because I had no previous fitness training experience, but it has turned out to be a really fun and positive job. “ said Winton.
As a instructor, Winton went through fitness certification which was funded by the Payne Center. The Payne Center encourages students like Elizabeth to become instructors in order to attract student participation.
Other classes offered at the Payne Center include aquatics, yoga, spin class, hip-hop, kickboxing and many more. Each class is taught by an instructor trained to motivate students to reach their health goals.
“My goal as an instructor is for people to leave my class feeling great about themselves,” says Winton.
