Java Werks Café is a local second home for international students at the University of Southern Mississippi. The coffeehouse reopened in April 2013 under new management, sharing a South American Latin culture and creating a family atmosphere. Potenza said after he and his family moved from Valencia, Venezuela, they knew they wanted to open a restaurant in Hattiesburg.
The key South American touch of family have united Spanish speaking students with American students. Potenza integrated his family within the community through their love of coffee and Venezuelan cuisine. The café serves as a diversified home for the Hattiesburg college community.
