The Clinton Special Services Department hosted its third annual Sweetheart Formal on Friday.
This Valentine themed dance was held for members of the community with special needs and their families. It included music by volunteer DJ Carenzo George and food donated by the community.
The event allowed for members of the community to volunteer at the event. Students from Clinton Junior High Anchor Club were among those who volunteered.
The Challenge League program is a part of the Special Services Department designated for people with special needs. Throughout the year the Challenge League program has activities for people in the Jackson area that includes a sports league as well as other holiday parties.
Special Services Department director, Chandra Fontenot said after realizing there was not event for Valentine’s Day she got the idea to create the Sweetheart Formal. Fontenot said the event had a great turn out, and she hopes for more participation next year.
